These books are bound in leather, have a satin ribbon page marker and silk
endpapers. The page ends are gilded in 22-karat gold, as well as the spine
lettering, and front and back cover inlaid designs. The books are also
printed on archival quality acid-neutral paper that is sewn together.The
frontispiece art by Chris Van Allesburg is the same as the covers in
other editions done by him. Each book has a full page map of Narnia
by Pauline Baynes at the front, but is printed in black and white
line screen. The overall map is too small to read the smaller lettering.
The books have neither date or ISBN. First printed in 1979.
